Phenomenex, Inc. Announces New Solid Phase Extraction for Significant Sample Preparation Time Savings

Phenomenex Inc., a global leader in the research, design, and manufacture of advanced technologies for the separation sciences, introduces Strata®-X PRO Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) Tubes and 96-Well Plates. Strata-X PRO consists of a new type of polymeric SPE sorbent combined with matrix removal technology to revolutionize sample extractions and matrix clean-up. While traditional SPE methods can take five or more steps to extract the analytes from the sample matrix, Strata-X PRO eliminates the conditioning and equilibration steps. Utilizing a 2-step or 3-step SPE method, Strata-X PRO achieves faster and more efficient protocols, while still resulting in high recoveries of target analytes.

In addition to the rapid clean-up, Strata-X PRO provides added matrix removal technology which targets phospholipids present in biological or food samples better than traditional methods to eliminate them from the matrix. When phospholipids are present, including all small concentrations, they can negatively impact analyte response and cause ion suppression in MS applications. With the added addition, the removal of phospholipids increases the sensitivity of the analytes response.

Strata-X PRO is available in tubes from 1 mL to 6 mL, 96-well plates, and 96-well microelution plates. This allows for a variety of sample sizes and throughput for specific extraction requirements. These products are available to be used with standard vials, collection plates and Presston 1000 Positive Pressure Manifold.
